“Stay with me Sweetness” ✍🏼 by Dan Victor • When a relationship has run its course and people have drifted, there is always one person that is more disappointed than the other. The person initiating the break-up has already accepted this reality, while the other is unaware that this could be a possibility. Not that it’s completely unexpected, but the thought of things ending hadn’t been considered. Now that person has to come to an acceptance by themselves. While the initiator of the break is moving on to someone else.
Sometimes they just miss the other so much, they just want what is comfortable. For them to stay. A source of so much joy, different now. A new realty greats you as long as you can let go
Have you ever been stuck on someone you couldn’t get over?
“Salad Face” ✍🏼 by Dan Victor • Nov 2014 to Nov 2015. This face has a gaping orifice where his nose should be. Like the skin is pulled back. Messing with the pointillism I have been into lately. Just a little bit. Playing with different techniques of shading. Kind of reminds me of The Predator.
Predator is a 1987 American sci-fi action-horror film directed by John McTiernan & written by brothers Jim and John Thomas. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of an elite military rescue team on a mission to save hostages in guerrilla-held territory in Central America. The Predator is a technologically advanced space alien monster stalking and hunting the main characters. Predator was written in 1984, under the working title of Hunter. Filming ran from March–June 1986.
“Tight Lipped” ✍🏼 by Dan Victor • A monster lock jaw going on. At least this kid won’t talk. Ya, don’t want any of this. Another messy sketch. I’m feeling the quality of line here. Quick and dirty is sometimes the best treatment.
“Oh Boy” ✍🏼 by Dan Victor • A soggy monster said. I’m a critter and a lone boy. Chattering my teeth, like a scared little man, hiding in the corner. Deep in shadow, until the chilly specter passes by.
Teeth again permeate so many of my drawings. It may be the way it cuts at the gums. It is somehow satisfying to draw them. Not perfect, flawed teeth… and bugged out eyes.
“New Dress for School” ✍🏼 by Dan Victor • It’s like for the first day after summer vacation. She shows up in a nice outfit her and her mom picked out at their favorite department store. The girl also got her hair done, the way she had seen it in a magazine.
I never understood the importance of looking like everyone else, but competitive about being the best dressed for what is the current trend. Becoming a part of a culture that embraces something for that moment in time.
I want to be a part of something greater than myself, right?
She is not unkind, but still won’t help that kid with his homework.
