“Poetry and Prison”
Breaking down barriers, I walk the line.
Breaking bread, Breaking through buildings,
Detrimental lines.
Prisons and poetry, they’ll meet you down the porch.
Rangers filled with reason,
they’ll show you to the door.
Oh they’ve risen, but Who will listen?
It’s poetry and prison for you.
Whistles blowing, The debt that they’re owing.
Poetry and prison,
Poetry and prison for you.
Going down, meet the simple sinners,
They know how to really get it down.
The prayers of artists have risen,
They gotta bring a woman, let them down.
How can you not like the honky tonk prison?
Got chickens and banjos.
Like being outdoors, in the mushroom visions.
Looks like I’ll never make it home.
Oh they’ve risen, but Who will listen?
It’s poetry and prison for you.
Whistles blowing, The debt that they’re owing.
Poetry and prison,
Poetry and prison for you.
For you… For you…
Don’t bring me down, don’t bring me down,
don’t bring me down.
Don’t bring me! Don’t bring me!
Don’t bring me down, down, down.
Cause I’m the real deal and I’m gonna make you,
Drink bourbon on the bar.
If you leave me, you’ll never be more sorry.
Everything’s crisis now.
Oh they’ve risen, but Who will listen?
It’s poetry and prison for you.
Whistles blowing, The debt that they’re owing.
Poetry and prison,
Poetry and prison.
Poetry and prison. Poetry and prison.
Poetry and prison. Poetry and prison.
For you! For you!
For you… For you…
For you…
