Happy and Young

Happy and Young”

With the sun on my face, I can feel it crack as I smile.
Running all over the place, Leaving a trail for Mom.
My world is simple and great, Time for picnics and fun.

I’m laughing a lot, at what we got.
My father goes to work and Mom stays home.
Playing games with clothes, imagination grows.
Toys, blocks, Lego’s and a plastic guitar.

Happy & young, childhood filled with mysteries.
It’s not very long, small hands dip into mischief.
Happy & young, happy & young…

What if I was a squirrel, why am I human?
Wondering about the world, I’m a boy whose 4 years old.

Painting pictures of a piano up-right
Screaming voices late at night
Don’t wake the kids, we have no cash,
It’s all your fault we’re on food stamps

Late summer by the pool, with blow-up dragons & balloons.
Make believe that I can fly, super heroes can never die.

I’m laughing a lot, at what we got.
My father goes to work and Mom stays home.
Playing games with clothes, imagination grows.
Toys, blocks, Legos and a plastic guitar.

Happy & young, childhood filled with mysteries.
It’s not very long, small hands dip into mischief.
Happy & young, happy & young…
